Caring for Your New Chihuahua
- Please make sure that a chihuahua is the right breed for you.
- Please be prepared to train your new puppy. Recommended book: “ How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With” by Rutherford and Neil.
- Young chihuahua puppies should not be allowed to jump off of furniture as this can cause serious injury to your puppy.
- Young chihuahua puppies should have food available to them at all times. In case of hypoglycemia, which can be common in young chihuahua puppies, you should have on hand Nutri-Cal or Karo syrup to be fed to the puppy while vet is immediatly contacted.
- Chihuahua puppies need plenty of socialization.
- Young chihuahua puppies are not suitable for small children.
- Chihuahua puppies are very sensitive to cold temperatures, please use pee pads when the weather is very cold and blankets or sweaters when traveling.
- Groom your puppy once a week and keep up with recommended Vet visits.
- Crate train your puppy when you are away from home.
- Do NOT let your puppy sleep in your bed with you. It may fall, or jump and get injured. Have a bed or crate for your new pup to sleep in.
- All pets must be spayed or neutered. This keeps them healthy and better tempered and your house clean! Yes , even females will “mark” their territory when they are in heat
